Considered one of the best examples of 19th century palace architecture, the Palace was built in the 17th century in Portugal by the 1st Marquis of Fronteira, D. João de Mascarenhas, in the third quarter of the 17th century. XVII.
The Palace contains a notable wealth of tiles, with particular focus on the Sala dos Paneles Holandeses, the Gallery of Arts and the Sala das Batalhas where painted tiles depict the story of the 1st Marquês de Fronteira, hero of the Restoration War.
Palace and gardens, also magnificent, are classified as a National Monument and can be rented for events.
